About
At the heart of my practice is a deep curiosity about sculpture and its dynamic relationship with space and emotion. I am drawn to the expressive potential of both natural and man-made materials, and I explore how their unexpected combinations can evoke a sense of mystery and meaning, but also what value we might give certain objects.
I approach materials and colours as if they carry unique personalities, allowing them to interact in ways that create compelling visual dialogues. By juxtaposing organic forms with industrial elements, I aim to challenge conventional perceptions, inviting tension, harmony, and a sense of transformation.
Through abstract compositions, my work seeks to translate complex emotional landscapes and inner narratives. Themes such as desire, anxiety, euphoria, and release are central to this exploration. A recurring figure in my thinking is the ‘inner trickster’ — a playful, instinctual force that reveals the layered dynamics between our authentic selves and the personas we present to the world.
My process often begins with an initial idea or impulse, which I explore through assembling materials. This evolves through stages of reworking, editing, and reassembling until a sense of tension, but also balance within their counterpart emerges. I consider space an active component of the work, responding to its conditions and treating it as another material. The environment often informs both the process and final installation.
I work with a broad range of materials, including clay, plaster, wax, and manufactured elements such as rope, chain, Perspex, and various textiles. Found objects, like storm-fallen branches or discarded items are also integral; I typically paint or alter them to abstract their origins and encourage new interpretations.
I am a Swedish artist based in London. I previously qualified as an architect and I have worked extensively with the fabric of buildings, space and surfaces. My work includes sculpture, paintings and site-specific pieces – Some settle some depart, Art made This, Gothenburg 2022, Strawhouse, Outpost, London 2019 and Trapphus, Bostadsrättsföreningen Furan, Gothenburg 2016.
